I have found the location for this incident. "Driving Ban For Motorist Who Steered Into Cyclist Not Using Cycleway." It's in Wymondham. Council didn't build it with protection, as originally promised. https://t.co/ZO3XAbHdDe https://t.co/I0 ... [more]
The A11 is thoroughly hostile for cycling. A roadside cycle path ( #17678 ) takes people off towards Heathersett, but rapidly falls to pieces at the park and ride site and the entrance to the future development ( #17676 ). Cantley Lan ... [more]
Hidden in the bushes is the start of the path over the A47. Although this is identified as a cycle route, no genuine provision for cycle access has been made though these barriers or on the path beyond. Worse lies ahead - a steep, nar ... [more]
The end of Cantley Lane to the footbridge ( #18810 ) over the A47 is traffic free and should be an excellent cycle route, running parallel to the A11. Unfortunately it is let down badly by the detailing. Barriers ( #18821 ), bridge ( #18 ... [more]
The path leading from Cantley Lane to the footbridge ( #18810 ) over the A47 is narrow, overgrown and has sharp bends. This is the ONLY crossing point for the A47 locally other than the suicidally bust A11 roundabout. It needs to be desi ... [more]
The end of Cantley Lane. Although this is identified as a cycle route, no provision for cycle access has been made though these barriers. The footway needs to be dropped and the surfacing continued through the barriers. Worse lies ahe ... [more]
Cantley Lane makes an ideal quiet route parallel to the A11. Unfortunately the footbridge over the A47 ( #18810 ) is narrow, steep and stepped, and the paths leading to it are narrow, overgrown and have sharp bends ( #18816 ). This bridg ... [more]

It's a cycle route... but not as we know it ! Steps are never a good feature on a cycle route. This footbridge is the ONLY place to cross the A47 other than using the suicidally busy A11 roundabout. It does have a wheeling ramp, whic ... [more]
Colney Lane is now a quiet residential cul-de-sac. The road north to the hospital has been closed to traffic but retained as a cycle link. #17686
Cycle track across the A11. Even though half the slip road to the A11 has been hatched out and bollarded of ( #18802 ) the entrance is still excessively flared. To the left (behind the camera) Colney Lane becomes a residential cul-de-sac. T ... [more]
Fair enough, the man with the van was fixing the telecom box just out of the picture on the left, but he is blocking both the cycle path exit and the sightlines to any approaching traffic. This is a poor end to an otherwise reasonable cy ... [more]
Poor merge with the carriageway where the Newmarket Rd cycle track joins Colney Lane. There is plenty of space to do this properly but just putting a drop on a narrow footway at a bend that you can't see around is poor. Solution: Wid ... [more]
This is a really POOR end to an otherwise reasonable road side cycle track. Look how much width is available and yet it has been fenced off, hatched out and bollarded off, while the shared path is shoved into a hedge. It gets worse aroun ... [more]
All things considered, this isn't a bad roadside link along the A11. It connects the new housing estates at Roundhouse Way to Colney Lane. As a route to the city it isn't great. It isn't especially direct - dancing back and forth across ... [more]
A second cycle crossing of the River Yare is desperately needed to improve connections between the new developments around Thickthorn / Round House Way with the city centre. This path leads to an existing footbridge ( #18796 ) that is id ... [more]
Cycle path / service road between UEA and the hospital campus. This is the ONLY decent cycle route available across the River Yare.
Good road closure at the end of Colney Lane, but the bollards are too close together. Replace with a single bollard.
There are lots of nice little paths in the development, but they don't link to the roadway (no dropped kerbs) and they don't extend outside the development. This estate "plays" at being green. It gives the impression of being a good plac ... [more]
Having been taken off Roundhouse Way, there is no way back onto it. The cycle path disappears into the estate without continuing up the road. The worst of both worlds, a complete absence of joined up thinking.
Crossing of an excessively wide estate access road. From the road layout here there is little question of how these new residents will get about - they will all be driving, what incentive is there to do anything else ?
Unnecessarily bad visibilty on the corner. Solution: Bring the cycle path AWAY from the hedge so that you can take a wider sweep around it and allow people to see anybody coming the other way.
Very misleading arrangement that pulls cyclists over to the left of the road in order to turn right, and then appears to direct them into a field. Solution: Remove the short cycle lane, it encourages bad road positioning. Change the s ... [more]
Astonishingly, the crossing signals have NOT been coordinated with the main roundabout signals, so here people on the cycle path are held on red while the traffic on the arm they are crossing is also held on red. The signals need to be c ... [more]
The A47 roundabout approach, not very inviting, and only serves the route that it wants you to go on. If you are heading somewhere different then tough. This is a very unfriendly environment for cycling.
These crossing points will be unacceptable once this area is developed and these roundabout arms are carrying significant volumes of traffic.
The cycle path goes to pieces at the roundabout, having to stop and give way at each of the radial arms. This will become considerably more awkward once the surrounding area is developed.
The mouth of Colney Lane is unnecessarily wide, encouraging traffic to enter and leave at speed. Visibility as you approach from the east is very poor and the interface is awkward.

Something that you should never see on a cycle route - you do not need to dismount to cross, join or leave a road.
Neat merge from service road to cycle path. The bollard position could be improved though. The footway conversion is repeatedly obstructed by parked vehicles here.
